Marbella Property Sales increase

Not only Hansa Realty reports increased sales to international buyers, but numbers published in the latest property sales report from the Spanish Ministry of Development show that in the last three months of 2010, 6.547 transactions were completed in the province of Málaga. 14% of those (905 transactions) involved international buyers from outside of Spain. These numbers represent an increase of 31% to the previous quarter and are one of the best results in Spain.

The Costa del Sol’s real estate market has been discussed by many professionals, like journalists, brokers and economists. But nothing or nobody is more correct and accurate than numbers. Especially numbers from recent history.

To really show the influence of international buyers in the Costa del Sol Robert Christen, our Office Manager in the Hansa Realty office on the Marbella Golden Mile subtracted the transactions involving the international buyers:

In 2010 in the province of Málaga a total of 22.442 were sold. That’s a small increase (+ 0,98%) compared to 2009 in which year a total of 22.224 homes were sold. However, if we are to subtract in both years the transactions where international buyers were involved the result would be negative: down 0,15% from 19.103 properties sold in 2009 to 19.074 in 2010!! This concludes that the transactions involving international buyers show an increase of almost 8%: 3.368 transactions in 2010 against 3.121 transactions in 2009.

Some additional numbers: 30% of the international buyers in Málaga chose to buy a property in Marbella in the Costa del Sol and out of the 905 transactions made by foreigners 731 were properties that had a previous owner.
